About

Nikki Choi is a Korean-born artist based in Sydney, Australia. She primarily works in abstract. She finished her Masters degree in Translation and Interpreting (Mater of Arts) at Macquarie University, Australia. She also completed a Fine Art course at Don Quixote Private Art School in Seoul, Korea. She is married to a Dutch husband; the grandson of a Dutch painter Jan Frearks van der Bij. She was a GreenWay Art Prize 2019 Finalist.

Nikki Choi has a passion for two things: art and travel. The best of the two worlds come into one. Being an adventurer, and having travelled the world, what she sees, feels, and experiences in different cultures play into the canvas, whether it’s the Georgian mountains, French medieval towns, or the country’s exquisite architecture and interior designs! Reflecting her positive personality, she loves unique and serene paintings that bring your soul back in nature. Her paintings contain peaceful yet energetic abstracts in beautiful compositions that will lighten up any home or business and add some spice to your life!

To me, art is freedom.

I feel truly free when I’m out in the world—exploring new cultures, immersing myself in untouched nature, losing track of time in the raw beauty around me. That same sense of escape lives within art.

Art is my sanctuary, a place where the weight of daily life fades away. It offers peace, calm, and a moment of stillness—no matter what responsibilities press in. In art, you are free to be your most authentic self. There’s no judgment, no expectations—just pure expression.

It’s a return to self. A quiet rebellion. A celebration of freedom.
You do you. A free soul in a boundless world.”
